Lovely Little Ladies | Sami, Sophie + Kendall

I had originally planned to do a large family photo session last weekend, but due to the lack of greenery and downright feel of Spring, we decided to postpone it until we can get some beautiful flowers in backgrounds!  Instead, Sami and her best friend Kendall asked me to do a cute little "best friends" shoot - my first!  I wish when I was in school that I had done a mini-photoshoot with my best friend!  What great memories these two have made so far, and how awesome will it be to have these photos to look back on years from now!?  You girls were just adorable; thank you for letting me take photos of you!

It was pretty chilly that day, but boy do they make it look warm and Spring-y!

Of course I could not forget Aunt Missy and little miss Lucy :)

Sisterly love...  I luck out with these beautiful sister shoots, don't I?!

My cousin Soph...she was just beautiful in her photos!  She is growing up way too fast!

Lighting 101 | Becca & Alannah

A few weeks ago, my friend and mentor, Devon Shanor (who I just started an internship with recently!!!) held a small lighting class that I attended.  We met up in Hampton at Fort Monroe and took some great shots of two lovely young ladies who were brave enough to shoot in the windy cold with us!  We started out with some shots as the sun was setting and as if that wasn't enough, Devon let us use her lighting gear!  I have a huge appreciation for flash photography now because it can be difficult!  There is a lot that goes into shooting at night and using all kinds of different gear to "get the shot" you want!  I had a blast hanging out with the ladies and photographing our two models, who did a great job and made it so fun!  Check out some of my shots:

Of course I adore photographing in natural light [especially during "the golden hour"), BUT I also love using flash!  I love that you can manipulate where shadows fall on and off.  Flash can help create some pretty amazing stuff!

Liz & Sarah: Sisterly Love

Yesterday afternoon in Downtown Norfolk, I met up with Liz and Sarah, two sisters who share a great bond. They were out for a "Sister Day," and of course wanted some fun shots! I had so much fun with these girls because they are also friends of mine. It was fun to laugh with them and of course do my first photoshoot! I was so excited to receive a request so quickly after asking for models over Facebook! I couldn't be happier to have shot Liz and Sarah for my first shoot! I hope to add many more photoshoots to this new phlog...and we'll see where it takes me...

Quite possibly my favorite. This isn't edited at all. I love the glowing warmth of the sun around Sarah.

Another favorite. Sarah suggested the cobblestone street, and it worked out pretty well!

Lovely ladies!

Please do not crop or alter images in any way.
Contact me for more info, or if you'd like to do a shoot with me! I am not charging, as I am still learning and making mistakes [trust me, I made a lot during this shoot].

Liz and Sarah -- your sisterhood is beautiful. I always wished to have a sister [or several] growing up; you two make it seem so wonderful!

I decided to also tackle this awesome 52 Weeks of Inspiration photo checklist. I am marking Warmth off the list for yesterday's shoot. Despite the extremely chilly weather, Liz and Sarah both brought so much warmth to their photos and you really couldn't tell they were cold. The sun was also shining, so it added a glow to the two of them!
